Today, we had the absolute pleasure of honoring one of our most cherished Rotarians and local legends, the late Dr. Lenny Berg.
Dr. Berg joined the Fort Pierce Rotary Club in 1968—the same year the City of Fort Pierce entrusted the club with 5.5 acres of land that we now proudly know as Rotary Park.
Each year, our club celebrates Arbor Day by planting a tree in Rotary Park—an opportunity to honor someone truly special. This year, it was only fitting that we dedicated our tree to Lenny.
We were honored to have such a wonderful turnout, including not only Rotarians but also Lenny’s family and friends—his wife, sons, grandchildren, neighbors, and lifelong friends. As stories and memories were shared, it was clear to everyone in attendance just how deeply loved and respected Lenny was.
One especially touching moment came as his son shared memories of Lenny’s connection to the Interact Club at Fort Pierce Central High School—including students “competing” for the chance to leave school early just to attend Thursday Rotary lunches with him.
Friends and family also spoke of his philanthropy, his passion for fishing, and his innovation—including his role in designing the flat skiff boat, now widely recognized as the Maverick Boat.

A special thank you to Bruce Hopper for once again donating a beautiful tree in recognition of Arbor Day and for his continued dedication to planting and caring for these trees as they grow. Your contributions do not go unnoticed.
And thank you to Rick Haisley for generously providing the beautiful engraved plaques that mark each dedication.
It was a truly meaningful day—spent in reflection, gratitude, and fellowship with our Rotary family.

🔨 What an honor it was for the women of the Fort Pierce Rotary Club to participate in the Women’s Build with Habitat for Humanity of St. Lucie & Okeechobee!
Our members spent a meaningful afternoon learning about the future homeowners who will soon fill these houses with love, memories, and new beginnings.
We were proud to roll up our sleeves and help by applying the first coat of exterior paint, taking one more step toward turning these houses into homes. 🏠🎨
Service above self means showing up, giving back, and helping build stronger communities together. We are grateful to be part of such an inspiring day! 💜✨

🏇👒 A Night at the Races was an absolute SUCCESS!
Because of our incredible community, we raised nearly $70,000 to benefit the Tunnel to Towers Foundation—and to support Fort Pierce Rotary’s local programs and initiatives right here at home.
The energy was HIGH, the hats were superb, and the requests to do it again next year are already rolling in faster than we can say ABSOLUTELY! 🙌
